Supposed to be more based on the love story between him an June rather than about his music. I heard that Juaquin does a good job singing and taking on his persons as does Reese, but they stay looking the same age over the years.
Still looking forward to seeing it.

An overly critical aquientance of mine saw it at CMJ in NY last week. He said most of it (That which is based on His autobiography) is good.

He knows I'm a huge fan and thought that I would approve.

I see aspects of Johnny Cash's real life life as having mythical qualities and he said the film expresses that well.

Rolling Stone has an interview with Joaquin this month. It's actually kind of funny. The reporter says how he is very shy and keeps out of the public eye. When Joaquin is asked what is something your fans don't know about you, he goes on this huge rant. I thought that was hilarious.

No, but he talked about how everyone asumed the reason he did the part was because his brother died and so did our man in blacks. It really annoyed him everyone thought he couldn't get over it.

i would never have drawn a correllation between river & johnny dying. that just doesn't make sense.
i am excited to see joaquin's interpretation of johnny.

It's actually River dying (Joaquin's Brother) and Johnny Cash's brother dying at an early age

i just saw it tonight. Am I the only one who was a bit dissapointed? While it was a decent movie overall at no time was I able to suspend disbelief and be convinced that it was Johnny Cash that I was watching. Joachim Phoenixes overexaggerated shoulder stoop din't help much either. I remember Johnny Cash from his wednesaday night TV shows and actually got to see him perform live once about 15 years ago and believe me he was very different. One thing that I really saw in person was his humor and light heartedness as well as the deep intensity. The portrayal in teh movie seemd shallow to me. Like a student actor taking on a part too big for his capacities
